I have no idea how to do that, I played for six months, but my teacher went epically crazy on me and I ended up crying in a bathroom, so that stopped. Now my school rented this one for me for two months and I'm getting attached.

I feel you, my audition at Penn State was really odd, the guy basically took my instrument apart (like took the keys off) and was playing on my reed and stuff. The one time I auditioned for MD all-state I bombed it and cried afterward. I'm looking into buying a new bassoon, and I want to get another Schreiber, to replace Chip, but they're based out of Nauheim, Germany. So living in the States it's been tough finding someone who has the one I want.
I'm not so Bassoony that I know the differences between Bassoon makes and other things, I just know that I like playing [a LOT] so I'm kindasorta obsessed in that way.
Still in HS and not planning to go to music school, but god, I remember doing NYSSMA for piano as a kid and it was utterly terrifying. I still have this irrational fear of performing instrumentals onstage, though I'm in nearly all my school's plays, and only when I played with a bassist [who was doing vocals] did I not fear getting up in front of a small crowd and playing [it was piano, and 3 months ago].
How much do Bassoons cost generally? And yes, I capitalize Bassoon usually, because I think it just deserves it.
